Nainital
is much more then viewing Naini Lake, Nakuchia Lake, Bhimtal Lake, Naini
Devi Temple, Governor's House, St. John's Church, Snow View Point and
Naina Peak. Nainital is simply the home of those who love nature.
Naina Devi Temple: Situated on the northern side of
the Naini Lake this temple is dedicated to the local deity Maa Naina
Devi. Though it was destroyed in the landslide of 1880, it was again
rebuilt.
St. John’s Church: A very old church of this region established way back in 1844.
Snow View: Located atop the Sher – ka – danda ridge and reachable by cable car, this location offers mind blowing view of the nearby Nanda Devi, Nanda Kot and Trisul mountain ranges.
Naina Peak: Also known as China/Cheena peak, this is the highest peak of this town at an altitude of 2615m. Accessible by ponies as well as by foot, this journey of 6 kms on completion offers the best view of the Nainital town as well as the snow covered peaks.
Governor’s House: Also known as Raj Bhavan, this building built in 1899 has a Gothic architecture style.
Tiffin Top: This terraced hill top on Ayarpatta Hill is also known as “Dorothy’s Seat”. This view point in Nainital offers a fantastic view of the neighboring countryside. A stonework perch called as Dorothy’s Seat constructed here is a tribute to the English artist Dorothy Kellet who died in a plane crash.
